Nails of the Week

These nails were ones I did last week but amazingly the design on my thumbs was still on a week later! I did change the colour on my other nails about five days later though. This is a very summery design and was really easy to do. I was inspired by a You tube video (here), but I just changed the colours slightly and the amount of nails I did the design on. Although you don't need any nail art tools I did use a dotting tool for the centre on the flowers but you don't really need to.

For my nails I used these nail varnishes;

Avon Nailwear Pro in Habenero It Girl - £6.00 (not sure you can get it anymore)
Laval Crystal finish nail varnish in Ultra Green - (not sure where I got this from there is a few on Amazon)

Nails of the Week - Rita Ora Nail Varnishes

As you may have seen on a post a few weeks ago (here) I bought some new nail varnishes from Rimmel. I got the Rimmel nail base and top coat 5 in 1 and 2 colours from the new Rita Ora spring collection.

Using the colours Wild-er-ness(lilac) and Bestival Blue(bright blue) I painted my thumb and ring finger in the lilac colour and the rest in the blue which is probably my favourite of the two. I then added a glitter gradient on the lilac nails. I really love the colours together and they perfect for spring!

I find that Rimmel varnishes stay on quite well and with the help of the nail base and top coat it should last longer. The nail base and top coat 5 in 1 is new to me and I thought I would try it as I needed another one and it was on a 3 for 2 at Boots so why not!

Products used: (from l-r)

Nails of the week

This weeks nails are very glittery and were perfect for christmas! I used a new polish I received in my December Birchbox. Its from the new Velvet Goth collection by the Models Own brand and is called Absinthe. Its a really nice glittery teal colour and has a really opaque coverage in 1 coat, I was very impressed with it. They retail for £5 which is average for a nail polish but I was very happy as obviously I got other things in my Birchbox so it was great value for money.
The December Birchbox and nail varnishes
 are available to buy here.

I'm back to blogging! (plus nails of the week post)

I can't believe I haven't posted on my blog since October! I have been so busy with university especially because I am now in my second year and I have so much more work. I have been enjoying it but now I am so glad to back home with my family.

Today's post is going to be a nails of the week using 2 nail varnishes I got in my No7 beauty advent calendar. If you haven't heard of the No7 advent calendar it includes 25 products from the No7 range at Boots. It was £35 which I know sounds alot for an advent calendar but the contents is worth over £100! I have really been liking what is in it and it perfect for me who loves new beauty products.

I used the Sally Hansen Double Duty top and base coat and then I used the two No7 nail varnishes in the colours Highland Mist and Disco Ball. The ones that come in the calendar are the mini version but I like that because you never use a full nail varnish before it dries up so the mini ones are perfect as you don't waste any.

I used the pinky coloured one (highland mist) on every nail except the ring finger and thumb nail as I painted them with the silver glitter one (disco ball). I really like the No7 nail varnishes as they do last a while and the colours are always really nice.

Hope you like this post and expect to see a few more over the holidays now I have more free time.

Nails of the Week - Shellac

This weeks nails I actually didn't do myself I had them done professionally for a change. I love having somebody else do them for me as I am always painting nails for family and friends and no one ever does mine so I decided to treat myself to having shellac put on them. If you don't know shellac is a gel based polish set under UV light which lasts for around 2-3 weeks. I have had them done with shellac a few times for special occasions and holiday and I love it as it means you don't have to worry about painting your nails for a while. I paid £18 for mine but it depends where you go as some places I know charge around £25 - £30 which I think is ridiculous! So anyway here are the photos of my nails...

This is a CND shellac in a colour called Masquerade. I really love the colour, its a great colour for autumn and I really love how they shine!

(Also this is my 50th post can't believe I have done that many in about 3 months. I tried to do around 3 a week but as I am going back to university tomorrow this will go down when I start to get busy with work)

Nails of the Week

This weeks nails are really simple but also look really pretty. I just used a french manicure polish as the base and then added a chunky glitter polish top coat to my thumbs and ring fingers. I painted the glitter so that there was more at the base of my nail and pieces just dotted around nearer the top for a gradient effect.

Products used:
No7 Silver glitter top coat - (I have a mini one that came in a set) Full size are around £6.00

Nails of the week

This weeks nails were inspired by yet another You Tube video (click here). It is very similar to a previous nail art post I did a few months ago (click here) but I really love the pastels shades and the sparkly pink accent nail.

I did the the galaxy print nails by sponging on a pastel pink, purple and blue to create a cloud effect. On the heart nail I cut a heart from sellotape to mask of the nail and I painted over it in a white so when I took the mask of it left a galaxy print heart. For the sparkly nail I used a shimmery pink and then a pink and sliver glitter nail varnish over the top. I also added a bit of glitter nail varnish to the galaxy print ones.

Nails of the week

This weeks nails are using the nail varnish I got in my July Birchbox. It is by the brand Soigne. I had heard of it before I got it but never knew how good it was. Its probably one of the best nail varnishes I own and I own around 70! (Yes I know thats a bit too many but I have an obsession and can't stop buying them and receiving them as gifts.) The colour is a true red colour and the is called Pomegranate. It is so smooth to apply and the brush is a really good size to cover the nail easily. I have had it on for about 3 days now and only had to touch up two nails yesterday because I caught them but you can't even tell.

The nail varnish retails for £11 which is quite pricey but if it was a treat I would definitely get another colour as they come in some really pretty colours and at the moment are sold exclusively on the Birchbox website.(click here)

Nails of the week

This week I am using a new nail varnish I got delivered the other day. It was from Avon that I ordered a couple of weeks ago. Its one of their Nailwear Pro+ nail varnishes and I got it in the colour Habanero it girl which is a really pretty shade of orange. I paid £2 for it as it was in the sale but the original price is £6.00 so it was a  bargain.

I also decided to order a nail dotting tool. This was in the sale too for £1.50 but it originally was £3. I have wanted one for a while as I usually use either a cocktail stick or a chopstick to do my nail art but I find these obviously don't create the perfect dot. The tool I bought is really handy because it also has a thin brush on the end too and also comes in a plastic wallet.

The nails I created were quite simple, I just did flowers with the dotting tool on my ring finger and thumb. It is a really nice summery design.

I really like the nail varnish it goes on really smooth and is very glossy. The only down side is that it is not as opaque as I thought it would be and I had to do about 3 layers. It claims to last 12 days so I will update on this post when I see how long it lasts. Overall I really like my Avon purchases.

Nails of the week

This weeks nails came from a nail art book I got for christmas. The book is called Nail Candy By Donne and Ginny Geer. I think it was from Urban Outfitters as there is a sticker on the back. The design is called half moons and uses hole punch protectors or ring reinforcements (whatever you want to call them) to mask off part of the nail near the base so it create a half moon shape and reveals the colour underneath. Its really easy and you only need two colours.

For my nails I used No7 Stay Perfect nail colour in Milan 70 (the sparkly pink) and a nail varnish that was free in a Company magazine in the colour Sky (the pastel purple)

These are my friend's nails I did for her in the same design just different colours. I used Tanya Burr's nail varnish in Little Duck and a light pink Technic nail varnish.

This weeks nails

So this weeks nails were inspired by a blog I found on the Company Magazine website (link to blog here) It was really easy to do and I used two pastel colours to make it a summery design. Hope you like it...

I used sellotape and a pair of pinking shears to cut the tape and then mask of half of the nail so I could paint half in another colour. You could do the pattern to all the nails but I just decided to do it on my ring finger and thumb.

These were the nail varnishes I used

Tanya Burr nail varnish - Little Duck
No7 Stay perfect nail colour - Lucky Lilac
George nail strengthener and top coat - Clear

This weeks nails

I have just finished doing my nails and this week I decided to do galaxy print nails. I found a tutorial on you tube (link here) and I really loved the colour palette that was used as it was really summery and I really love pastel shades anyway. I have done galaxy print nails before quite a while ago where I used this tutorial (link here) but this used the actual colours of the galaxy which I really like the look of too. So here they are...

I actually didn't think I had a photo of the other coloured galaxy nails I did a while ago but I found a photo of the same nails I did on my friend.( on the left) The ones I did today I think look quite good although I am aware they are not exactly the same as the tutorial.

These are the colours I used:

For the base - No7 stay perfect nail colour - Lucky Lilac
I then used an eyeshadow sponge applicator to dab on the colours on top:
A darker lilac - from a Comapany magazine - Sky
A pale pink - Nail paint by Barry M - 309 Strawberry
A pastel blue/green - Tanya Burr - Little Duck
A french polish white - not sure what make this as I have had it a while
A metallic silver - Kelly Brook - not sure what it is called as it came in a set from New look
A silver glitter polish - Technic nail varnish - not sure what it is called as it came in a set
For the top coat - Sally Hansen double duty base and top coat -  Clear

Hope you like it

This weeks nails

So this weeks nail were inspired by a blog post I saw. It is a very simple design where you just use two colour across the tips of your nails. You could use sellotape to get a clear line but I just did it free hand and I don't think it turned out too bad. Hope you like it...

Ii used two blue colours but you could use any two colours that go together. I also added some glitter where the two colour meet but you don't have to.

Products I used:
Natural Collection - Peach manicure

Tanya Burr - Little duck

Models own Artstix Duo polish - Blue Maldives and Sea Spray

Sally Hansen Double Duty base and top coat

This weeks nails

I mentioned in a previous post I love watching you tube videos and quite a lot of the videos I watch are nail art videos. I am obsessed with nail varnish and love painting my nails although while I have been at university I haven't painted them as much as usual. So this week I decided to do a nail design I had seen which you can see how to do here:
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXpiAqLStFY&list=UUT8z80a4ESgO2Y4qajk-iXw

This technique is called dry brush nail art. It is nothing like anything I have seen before and I love the effect you can create and its really easy too! This is what my nail look like and the nail varnishes I used
Hope you like it and try it out yourself

The nude base colour

The top coat (would definitely recommend this nail varnish)

The colours I used were an Essie one called Brazilliant and the rest were Kelly Brook ones which were in a pack of 12  from New Look
